My journey with clay began in the traditional potteries of Marjoß, Germany, where I trained under fifth-generation masters. Those early years—steeped in the discipline of wheel throwing and the raw energy of wood firing—instilled in me a deep reverence for ancient functional forms. After decades of practice across West Berlin, Oregon, and Boston, my work has transitioned from the wheel to the deliberate, sculptural freedom of hand-building.

My process is deeply informed by my background in psychology; I see a direct parallel between seeking emotional equilibrium and finding the physical balance of a ceramic form. By reinterpreting ancient shapes through a modern lens—blending varied materials and textures—I create pieces that feel both timeless and deeply personal. Each vessel is an invitation to look closer and find a new perspective on the concept of balance
